Davis Artist-in-Residence with DCWS 2020 season

During their 2020 season, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings (DCWS) invited Olivia Davis on as Composer-in-Residence. Two pieces were commissioned during that time—one for trombone quartet, the other for wind trio. Davis had the opportunity to work with renowned artists, and had her music performed on three separate concerts. Her piece, Burst, for trombone quartet was written for and performed by David Jackson, Kenneth Thompkins, Garth Simmons, and Chris Hernacki; and her piece, Portraits, for reed trio was written for the Ensemble-in-Residence, Ceres Trio, who premiered the piece. 

As part of her time with DCWS, Davis had the opportunity to have an entire concert of just her music performed as the "DCWS Annual Artist & Sponsor Luncheon." Her piece for string quartet, Your Little Boy, performed by outstanding student performers from the University of Michigan, was the highlight of the concert.
